Pacers Top 2012 CSAC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll

Aston, PA – Marywood University's men's tennis team has been selected as the preseason favorite in the 2012 Colonial States Athletic Conference coaches' poll. The two-time defending CSAC champions look toward another conference title while collecting seven of eight first place votes and earning 63 points in the poll.
 
Marywood, under 2011 CSAC Coach of the Year Arthur Comstock, went 14-4 overall in 2011 and put together a perfect 7-0 conference record, defeating Baptist Bible at the 2011 CSAC Championship Tournament. The Pacers qualified for the NCAA Division-III National Tournament, where they fell 5-3 in a hard-fought match to Farmingdale State. The Pacers return several key starters including juniors Todd Doran, Daniel Pfafman and Ethan Jones who all earned All-CSAC honors in singles and doubles a year ago.
 
“It's an honor to be selected as the preseason favorite by our peers, but we also recognize the difficult task of defending the CSAC title and responding to each team's best shot along the way,” said head coach Comstock. “We will continue to strive to meet those challenges and compete at a high level throughout all of our matches.”
 
After reaching the CSAC conference finals in 2011, Baptist Bible College was selected to finish second, earning 51 points. The Defenders will look to the 2010 CSAC Rookie of the Year Caleb Evans to lead the team. Evans also earned First Team All-CSAC honors.
 
Cabrini (45), Neumann (36), Keystone (33), Gwynedd-Mercy (30), Immaculata (20) and Rosemont (10) rounded out the voting.
 
The CSAC season kicks off on March 21 when Immaculata University hosts Baptist Bible College. The season will conclude with the top four teams participating in the CSAC Championships on April 27 and 28 at the Northwood Racquet Club near Easton, PA.  Marywood begins their spring season March 5 when they face St. Mary's University of Minnesota (10:00am) and Ursinus College (6:00 pm) in Orlando, Florida.
