Men’s Tennis: Doran Player of the Year, Comstock Coach of the Year

Men's Tennis - 4/26/2012 11:51:00 AM

Aston, PA – Marywood University dominated the Colonial States Athletic Conference's 2012 Men's Tennis End of Year Awards as voted upon by the league's head coaches.  These awards include Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year, as well as First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention All-CSAC and the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.  The Pacers, who enter this weekend's CSAC Championships with the top seed, dominated the First Team selections for singles and doubles with all three doubles teams earning top honors and Marywood taking five of six singles spots.  In addition, Todd Doran was named the 2012 Men's Tennis Player of the Year while Head Coach Art Comstock was named Coach of the Year.

Doran has been named the 2012 CSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year after going a perfect 7-0 in singles play against conference foes at the number-one flight,  while in doubles, he teamed with Evan Bolus to go 6-1 in conference matches in the first spot. Doran was a three-time CSAC Player of the Week, and is now a two-time All-CSAC honoree.

Comstock has been voted the 2012 CSAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year after guiding the Pacers to a perfect 7-0 record in league play and the top seed in this weekend's CSAC Men's Tennis Championship Tournament. The Pacers were dominant in conference play, as five of their seven conference wins came by 9-0 scores, while the other two were by an 8-1 count. This marks the third straight undefeated CSAC campaign for Marywood under Comstock, who has guided the Pacers to each of the past two CSAC tournament championships. This is the second straight season in which Comstock earns Coach of the Year laurels.

The 2012 CSAC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Year is Cabrini College's Anthony DiCicco.  DiCicco, a freshman, held down the number one spot in singles for the Cavaliers for the duration of his inaugural season, posting a 4-3 record against CSAC opponents. In doubles play, he also had a hand in three victories for Cabrini, which ended the regular season with a 6-1 CSAC record and the number-two seed in this weekend's upcoming CSAC Men's Tennis Championships.
