Scranton, PA - The fourth-seeded Marywood University women's lacrosse team booked a spot in the Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinal with a 13-10 victory over fifth seed Gwynedd Mercy University Saturday in first round action. The Pacers (8-8) will travel to face top-seeded Cabrini College Wednesday.

Natalie Burke shook up the Griffins offensively and defensively. She corralled 10 ground balls, six caused turnovers and three draw controls. Burke tallied a goal and two assists for three points.

Marywood used a nine-goal run over a 29-minute time frame. The run took the Pacers from a 2-1 deficit to a 10-2 lead with 22:59 remaining in the game.

Erin Healy led the Pacers with four points on a goal and three assists. Dana Grossjung and Caitlin Watson joined Burke with three points, each producing two goals and an assist.

Mary Ninivaggi broke the program's single-season caused turnovers record with two to put her at 45 for the season. She added three ground balls.

Emily Osborne poked holes in the Griffins' defense to total a pair of goals. Stephanie Hughes secured four ground balls. Stacy Griffing won five draw controls.

Lauren Smith won her eighth game of the year with five saves.

Marywood trailed early on when Griffing's goal was soon erased by a pair of Kelsey Yori goals within an 82-second span. Burke drove to the net to force a 2-2 tie with 20:33 left in the half. Nearly nine minutes of a stalemate ended with Watson's go-ahead goal from a Burke pass. It opened the flood gates to five goals in the final 11:48 of the half. Osborne's two scores put the Pacers with a 7-2 lead heading into intermission.

Three Marywood goals later, Gwynedd's Brianna Greer ended the drought at 21:58. It started a four-goal Gwynedd run that culminated in a Lauren Mitros goal that halved the Pacers' lead to 10-6. Sam Bussinelli started an oscillating five minutes that saw Marywood and Gwynedd Mercy trade goals back and forth three times. Following Katrina Kelly's fifth goal of the season, Danae Perrymond and Aubrey Cook put the Griffins as close as three goals at 13-10 but were held fruitless for the final 3:10 of the contest.

Marywood out-shot Gwynedd Mercy 34-20. Marywood won the ground ball game handily (30-18) and owned a 16-9 advantage in draw controls.
