Scranton, Pa. – Second-seeded Marywood University reached the Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse championship game for the fifth time in its 10 year history with a 15-5 triumph Saturday over No. 3 Centenary University in the semifinal. The Pacers will travel to top-seeded Cabrini on May 6 with hopes of derailing its 16-game championship streak.

The Marywood defense handcuffed the Cyclones to just five goals. The Pacers raced out to a 4-1 lead in the first 11 minutes of the contest and never let Centenary come within two the rest of the way.

Rob Maini became the 10th Marywood men's lacrosse student-athlete to join the 100 Point Club with his six-point performance. His three goals and three assists moved him into eighth all-time with his 103rd career point.

Fresh off of his CSAC Second Team nod, Maini was the catalyst behind the Pacers' early success with either a goal or an assist in six of the team's first seven goals. His efforts aided Marywood (9-9) in extending the lead to 7-3 with 7:09 left in the first half.

Casto tied the single-season school record for goals with his 39th of the year as part of a two-goal, two-assist afternoon. Tying Scott Slater's three-year old record, he is in hot pursuit by Maini, who trails by one with 38 goals.

Austin Maylor netted a hat trick. Jeff Johnsen contributed two goals and an assist.

In net, Chris Favale notched the victory by stopping 10 shots and allowing five Cyclone goals.

Defensively, Skyler Swope had his best game of the year with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Ryan Matthews also had three ground balls.

Riley Litman was outstanding at the faceoff-x by winning 15 of 23 attempts with nine ground balls.

Centenary's Luke Tremont secured a hat trick. Nick Fox caused three turnovers.

Marywood reached the CSAC final in 2015, 2014, 2011 and 2009. It finished runner-up in each of its appearances.

The time for next weekend's championship is to be announced, contingent on the results from Wednesday's CSAC women's lacrosse matchups.
