Missed Chances Doom Women's Soccer in First CSAC Loss

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University scored midway through the first half but missed numerous other chances in the opening stanza as Cabrini University rallied for a 2-1 win over the Pacers, handing the hosts their first CSAC loss of the year while improving themselves to 3-0-2 in league play.

Marywood (4-5, 4-1 CSAC) had a strong wind at their back in the opening half, and dominated in shots during that time, 19-4.  But only Megan Swiecicki finished one of those in the 22nd minute off a feed from Aly Barlok, and that lack of finishing in the opening half cost the Pacers the game. Swiecicki would later hit one off the crossbar in the first but no one was there to follow as Marywood maintained their one goal lead.

With the wind at their back in the second half, Cabrini (5-1-3 overall) dominated the shot chart, 11-3, and put two of those chances away.

Katelyn Glinger tied the game just under 10 minutes into the second after Marisa Christensen sent a nice cross in that skipped through several defenders.

With just over five minutes remaining, Taylor Tralie sent a 30-yard shot in that rang off the crossbar and Aysia Cintron stepped in front of a Marywood defender to put home the rebound in an empty net, giving the Cavaliers the dramatic win.

For the game, Marywood outshot Cabrini 22-15 (11-9 on goal).  Cabrini netminder Gabby LeGendre made 10 stops while Aly Moyer made seven for Marywood.

Marywood hosts Rosemont Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
