Helen Leonard is a graduate of the Class of 1952 at Marywood, and served for 33 years as a professor of Health and Physical Education there. She spent 18 years as the Chairperson of the Health and Physical Education Department, and 20 years as Marywood's Director of Athletics.

During her time at Marywood, Helen also served as a field hockey, women's tennis, women's basketball, and softball coach. Leonard is also well known for her expertise in swimming, where as a competitor she captured National high school and collegiate championship in long distance swimming.
