Scranton, PA – Hartwick College built a seven-goal lead midway through the first half and held on for a 13-8 win over Marywood University in the regular season finale for both teams on Friday evening. The Hawks improves to 2-10 on the season with the victory while the Pacers will take an 8-8 overall record into their Colonial States Athletic Conference first-round playoff game on Saturday May 1st.

Hartwick build a 2-0 lead just 1:15 into Friday night's contest before Allie Sodl (Coplay, PA) got Marywood on the board at the 28:02 mark of the first half. The Hawks would counter with the next five goals of the contest to hold a 7-1 advantage with 22:21 on the clock. Taylor McKeown (Nashua, NH) got one back for the hosts just over seven minutes later before Hartwick scored three straight times to hold a 10-2 lead with just under nine minutes left in the opening half. 

Four different Marywood players would score at the Pacers' cut their deficit to 10-6 with 2:01 remaining in the period. McKeown, Meg Barbarino (Endwell, NY), Kelly Kuzicki (Vernon, NJ), and Jen Silvestri (Warwick, NY) each tallied for Marywood during the run before Hartwick's Brittany LaVaute scored with 52 seconds on the clock to give the visitors an 11-6 lead at the break. 

The Hawks' Emily Walsh scored just under three minutes into the second half to stretch Hartwick's lead to six goals before McKeown tallied a pair of goals separated by just 49 seconds to cut Marywood's deficit to 12-8 with 23:22 to play, but that was the last time that Pacers would beat Hartwick goalie Jen Kaye, who finished with 14 saves to pick up the win. A late goal by the Hawks' Erica Scicchitano would close out the scoring for the game.

Marywood, who converted just three of 17 free position shots, held a slim 28-26 advantage in shots for the game and a 33-34 edge in groundballs. Katie Sullivan (Merrick, NY) made eight saves in the loss between the Pacers' pipes.

McKeown led all scorers on the night with five points on four goals and one assist. The sophomore now has 80 goals and 91 points on the season. Alexis Willey (Hummelstown, PA) contributed three assists in the loss for the Pacers, who got six groundballs from Mary-Christine Vignola (New Market, MD) and five from Carrie Glenn (Rifton, NY).

Hartwick was led by Emily Walsh and Hannah Kennedy, each of whom finished with four points.

Marywood will make their second-straight CSAC postseason appearance on Saturday, May 1st. The location and opponent for the Pacers' first-round game will be determined by tomorrow's game between the College of Notre Dame and Immaculata University in Baltimore.
