Ithaca, NY - The 24th-ranked Ithaca women's soccer team (2-0-1) upended visiting Marywood (1-2-0), 7-0, in its home opener on Wednesday at Carp Wood Field. Ithaca College used a quick goal and solid play on a sloppy field as both teams battled torrential rains all afternoon. The Bombers got off to a strong start posting four goals in the first frame before adding a trio in the second half.

Ithaca got on the board early when Ellyn Grant-Keane used an assist from Rachael Palladino and found the back of the net with a long-range chip shot. After nearly twenty minutes of scoreless action after the opening goal, Julie Winn notched a pair of scores broken up by an Amanda Callanan goal for a four-goal lead at intermission. Winn capitalized on a Palladino pass at 20:37 before Callanan tallied in the 29th minute on a free kick. Winn made it 4-0 at 42:27 putting away a feed from Ericka Ilkanich.

Callanan again went unassisted in the 51st minute on a long shot from the center of the pitch for a 5-0 Bomber gap. Palladino scored one of her own heading in a Caroline Jastremski cross on the right post for a 6-0 cushion at 64:04.

The Bombers scored the final goal in the 81st minute when Jackie Rodabaugh collected a rebounded ball from Winn and shot out of the keeper's reach for a 7-0 final count. Outshooting the Pacers 24-13, Ithaca held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Becca Salant earned the win in goal for the Bombers having made three saves in 72:10 of action. Becca Lewis relieved Salant for the final 17:50 of play and made one stop. Emily Osborne played the first half for Marywood and Dominique Kozuch played the second half. Each had four saves.

Marywood returns to action Saturday against Swarthmore College in the Joe Bochicchio Memorial Classic. Lebanon Valley will play at the University of Scranton in the other game of the Classic. Both games are at 1:00 pm. Marywood will then host LVC Sunday while Scranton will host Swarthmore.
