Women's Rugby Completes Fall Season at Millersville

Millersville, Pa. – Marywood University women's rugby closed out their fall season going 3-0-1 in a Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference tournament at Millersville. Marywood beat Millersville University in both their matches (5-0 and 15-0). Against Drexel University, the Pacers won convincingly 32-0 in the first match but Drexel was able to limit them to just one try in the second for a 5-5 tie.
 
Marywood 5, Millersville 0
 
Millersville's defense held off Marywood's offense early, The Pacers' outscored Millersville 34-7 in their last meeting. In the first half Marywood was able to get close to scoring a few times but was unable to finish. In the second half Gabrielle Tutoni blocked a Millersville clearance kick her teammate Morgan Bialy was able to scoop up the loose ball for the only try of the match (5-0).
 
Marywood 32, Drexel 0
 
The Pacers got their offense going against the Dragons as Tutoni and Ciara Sharkey scored back to back tries in the first few minutes to take a 10-0 lead. Tutoni converted on Sharkey's try to extend the lead to 12. Captain Alyssa Tirella made a break off the second half kickoff to set her teammate up Mariah Casey for Marywood's third try of the match (17-0). The Pacers followed Casey try with two more by Bialy and Emily Hamm both with an assist from McKinley Bernitt (27-0). Tutoni score one more try on the play of the match (32-0).
 
Marywood 15, Millersville 0
 
In their second meeting of the day Marywood's Morgan Bialy was a force on offense scoring two of Marywood's three tries. Richele Gallagher clearance ruck helped set up Bialy's pick and go for her first try (5-0). Bialy's second try came off a scrum play (10-0). Tutoni scored late in the second half for her third try of the day (15-0).
 
Marywood 5, Drexel 5
 
After a one-sided affair in the first match Drexel came in determined to not let that happen again. Drexel put a lot of pressure on the Pacers on both sides of the field. Drexel was able to strike first scoring late in the first half to take a 5-0 lead. Marywood applied some pressure of their own early but a knock-on stopped their attack just short of the try line. Richele Gallagher scored the game tying try with assistance from Captain Alyssa Tirella with just seconds left of the clock (5-5).
