FROM THE TURF TO THE COURSE | Straub Claims Second All-Region Award Days after Field Hockey Season Concludes

Straub played in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey First Round three days before taking All-Region again

New Orleans — For the second time in her career, Marywood University senior Lany Straub claimed U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All Mid-Atlantic Region after making the jump from field hockey to women's cross country.

Just three days after starting in the Pacers' first round matchup against Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships, Straub ran to a Top 35 finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional race to earn the honor.

Two years ago, she earned All-Region after qualifying for the Division III Women's Cross Country Championships with a top seven finish. Straub ran at Division I Kent State in 2023.

The four-sport student-athlete finished in 27th place on the Lock Haven University 6K course. She ran a 22:10.2 that was 12 seconds faster than her 2022 NCAA-qualifying time. Straub moved into third all-time at Marywood, despite only running three career women's cross country races.

Straub was the race leader following the first mile.

The Shickshinny, Pa. native earned the 16th All-Region performance in women's cross country program history. She is just the fifth Marywood runner to earn multiple all-region awards.

Straub was recently named First Team All-Atlantic East in field hockey. She started 21 games with 10 goals, five assists and 25 points. Straub led the Pacers to an Atlantic East Conference championship.
