Pacers Make it a Dozen in a Row in a Five-Set Thriller

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University volleyball outlasted Cairn University in a five-set match Wednesday for its 12th consecutive victory. The Pacers improve to 19-1 on the season and extends their program-record winning streak. 

Marywood came back to win by 21-25, 25-18, 28-30, 25-15, 15-13 scores. 

Genevieve Pollock led the Pacers with 16 kills and a .361 hitting percentage. Pollock added three block assists. 

Carolina Samaniego had a double-double of 13 kills and 13 digs. 

Taylor Hallam factored in with 11 kills and a .286 attack percentage. She added four aces and two block assists. 

Ryleigh Hart posted a nine kills with a .217 hitting percentage, along with three block assists. Taylor Howard tallied six kills and five total blocks. 

Ayla Bransford added 48 assists — tying the fifth-most for a five-set match. She added five aces and 12 digs.

Defensively, Catie Woolf had 24 digs. Andrea Fraga notched 11 digs. 

Cairn was led by Marah Lehman's 16 kills. Anna Dow had 44 assists. 

In the first set, the Highlanders scored five consecutive points to take the lead. 

Marywood opened the second set with a 6-1 lead on Hallam serves.

In the third set, Marywood forced extra points with three straight points on set point. After Marywood took a 28-27 lead, the Highlanders scored three straight points from Georgianna Thorpe and Bridge Dahn kills. 

The Pacers trailed 13-11 in the third set after a ball-handling error. Marywood evened the score on two attack errors. Tess Connolly had an ace to take a 14-13 lead. Hallam closed match point with a kill. 

Marywood travels to Arlington, Va. for a pivotal matchup against Marymount University and DeSales University.
