Marywood Tops the Mighty Macs

Immaculata, Pa. — The Marywood University field hockey team traveled to Immaculata on Wednesday for Atlantic East action. The two teams last saw each other in the Atlantic East Conference championship, last season. The Pacers (8-8, 3-0 AEC) won the rematch, 3-0. 

Marywood recorded their first goal in the 27th minute, off the stick of Dariane Jones. 

The Pacers took a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute, when Jordan Saybe found an opened Brooke Barwick, who buried it in the cage. 

Amelia Niven notched the Pacers third goal of the game to pad the lead. It was Niven's first collegiate goal. 

Barwick was credited with the assist. 

Marywood recorded 17 totals shots, compared to 15 for Immaculata. Both teams had 12 shots on target. 

The Pacers also had more penalty corner opportunities, 6-4. 

Bre Marchiano was in the cage for Marywood, recording twelve saves in route to her second shutout of the season. 

The Pacers will look to stay hot as they host Manhattanville University on Saturday.
