Men's Basketball Freezes Hartwick, 91-72

Loftin adds fourth straight 20-plus game

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University men's basketball upended Hartwick College 91-72 on Wednesday. The Pacers improve to 3-1 overall. 

Michel Loftin produced his fourth straight 20-plus point game. Loftin finished with 21 points and eight rebounds. He added five assists. 

Joe Macciocco made 7 of 9 shots for 17 points. Shilo Bivins added 15 points, and Andrew Quinn totaled 14 points on a 6 for 9 shooting night. 

Ty Cheney finished with eight points and seven rebounds. 

Marywood shot 47.3 percent from the field, holding the Hawks to 35.9 percent. The Pacers edged the Hawks 40-38 in rebounds. 

The Pacers dominated the Hawks 20-3 in points off turnovers. Marywood focused in the paint, outscoring Hartwick 56-20. The Pacers also ran up a 21-8 advantage in fast-break points. 

Marywood committed just eight turnovers. 

Hartwick received 16 and 14 points from Mike Gitz and Robby Lucas, respectively. 

Leading by just six points, the Pacers outscored the Hawks by a 19-5 swing over a five-minute span in the second half. 

Marywood hosts Rosemont College on Wednesday.
