Men's Basketball Rolls Falcons for Fifth Straight Win

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University men's basketball posted its fifth straight win with a 93-85 victory over Messiah University on Wednesday. 

The Pacers had a 16-point run to take a 19-point lead in the second half.

It is Marywood's first five-game winning streak since the 2008-09 season.

Messiah cut the lead to four points with under four minutes remaining. Collin Himmelberg hit back-to-back 3-pointers to take a double-digit lead with less than three minutes left. Shilo Bivins had an emphatic dunk to punctuate the win. 

Joe Macciocco and Michel Loftin each scored 25 points. Macciocco had six 3-pointers and five assists, and Loftin contributed seven rebounds. 

Himmelberg scored 13 points, and Andrew Quinn tallied 10 points. 

Bivins had a team-best eight rebounds. Ty Cheney recorded seven assists.

Marywood shot 58.82 percent from the field in the first half. The Pacers made 12 of 21 (57.14 percent) from long-distance range in the opening 20 minutes. The Pacers finished 42.1 and 34.8 percent, respectively, for the game. 

Messiah's Ben Wert led the game with 29 points and nine rebounds. Johnny McBride had 12 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Edwards-Saliu had 10 rebounds. 

Marywood outscored the Falcons 24-4 on the bench. 

The Pacers travel to Wilson College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
