Pacers Power Past Elmira College, 66-62

Ortiz notches season-high 17 points

Scranton, Pa. — On Wednesday evening, the Marywood University women's basketball hosted Elmira College in a tightly contested matchup. The Pacers (4-3) came out victorious, grabbing the 66-62 win over the Soaring Eagles. 

Marywood had the edge after quarters one and two, taking a 35-29 lead into the half. 

An even third quarter propelled the teams into a highly-intense final quarter. 

The Soaring Eagles out-scored the Pacers by two in the final quarter, but Marywood was able to hang on to win, 66-62. 

The Pacers shot 24-57 (42.1 percent) from the field in total, 4-15 (26.7 percent) from beyond the arc, and 14-23 (60.9 percent) from the line. 

Elmira totaled 21-59 (35.6 percent) from the field, 12-26 (46.2 percent) from three, and 8-14 (57.1 percent) from the stripe. 

Anyah Ortiz led the Pacers offensively with 17 points.

Megan Cavoli had 15 points while Olivia Ciullo tallied 13.

Alli Anstadt, Mia Blume, Alli Griscavage, Ciullo, and Ortiz all had five rebounds apiece. 

Blume had seven assists. 

The Soaring Eagles' Amarionah Dixon had 16 points. 

The Pacers will face Hofstra University, Tuesday, in an exhibition game.
