Mangan Swims to Second-Place Swim in the 100 Breast

Marywood improves to third place in both men's and women's standings

St. Mary's City, Md. — Marywood University improved to third place in the Atlantic East Conference men's and women's swimming championships following the third day of competition. The Pacers will compete in the final day on Sunday at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Aubrey Mangan came in second place in the 100 breast. Coming in tied for second following the prelims, Mangan outpaced Cedar Crest College's Camila Gil by 19-hundredths of a second. Trailing by 16-hundredths of a second at the midway point, she swam a 37.6-second leg to touch the wall in 1:11.5.

Marywood gained valuable points with four finalists in the 400 IM. Emerson Gellert (5:09.54), Tori Sills (5:15.17), Kendra Musselman (5:34.05) and Adrianna Howell (5:36.61) took the fourth through seventh places.

Gellert improved to a third-place finals swim — from seventh place after prelims — in the 200 free. She improved by 4.19 seconds to clock in at 2:04.42.

Sills was sixth place in the women's 100 back at 1:07.47.

Sam Peck was sixth place in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.24.

Howell had a semifinals time of 2:16.16 to secure an eighth place showing in the 200 free.

On the men's side, Nathan Grosvenor and Alex Corcoran were sixth and eighth places in the 100 breast in 1:06.13 and 1:07,47, respectively.

Alex McCarey came in sixth place in the 100 back. He had a prelim time of 57.76 seconds.

Both 400 medley relays came in third place. The women's group of Sills, Mangan, Peck and Gellert had a time of 4:20.61. The men's foursome of McCarey, Nathan Grosvenor, Corcoran and Aaron Purdy won bronze in 4:00.65.

In the women's standings, St. Mary's leads Marymount 568-395. Marywood trails the Saints by 70 points, holding a 43-point lead over Immaculata.

Marymount looks for a repeat with a 604-553 lead over St. Mary's. The Pacers are third with 212, ahead of Immaculata's 183 points.
