Pacers Drop Match Against Alfred

Surowiec notches his first goal of the season

Alfred, N.Y. — The Marywood University men's soccer team traveled up to Alfred University on Wednesday evening to face off with the Saxons. The Pacers (2-3) dropped the contest, 3-1. 

The lone-goal in the first half was scored by Alfred, grabbing the 1-0 advantage in the 17th minute of play. 

Marywood responded after halftime, netting one of their own in the 61st minute off the boot of Ryan Surowiec. 

Jared Sanborn was credited with the assist. 

The Saxons were quick to answer, re-gaining the lead in the 63rd minute. 

Alfred extended their lead to 3-1, adding an insurance tally in the 90th minute. 

Both teams had 17 shots on the day. 

Marywood had managed three shots on target, compared to 10 for the Saxons. 

Alfred led in corner kick opportunities, 7-5. 

Owen Clearwaters had six of Marywood's shots, two being on target. 

Pacers' keeper, Ryan Schweigart, recorded seven saves in net. 

Tyler Mulholland collected two saves for Alfred. 

Marywood looks to bounce back on Saturday as they host Ramapo College.
