Pacers Ice Mighty Macs in Final Second

Shilo Bivins scores a double-double

East Whiteland Twp., Pa. — Joe Macciocco made three free throws in the final second of regulation to lift Marywood University to a 73-70 victory over Immaculata University Thursday in Atlantic East Conference men's basketball. The Pacers move into a three-way tie for third place with an 11-7 overall and 4-3 conference record. 

With the game tied at 70-70, Macciocco drew a shooting foul beyond the arc. The Old Forge, Pa. product made all three free throws for the game-winning points. 

Macciocco led the Pacers with 22 points. He was 7 for 12 from the field and 6 for 9 from the free-throw line. 

Shilo Bivins had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Collin Himmelberg added 12 points with five assists. 

Michel Loftin contributed nine points and eight rebounds. 

Marywood outrebounded the Macs 48-38. 

The Mighty Macs' Dylan Crews had 20 points. Both Christian Chambers and Mandon Seapoe had 12 points. Chambers produced seven blocks. 

Marywood cakewalked to a 13-point lead at halftime thanks to a 47.06 percent shooting effort. 

The Pacers opened the second half with eight unanswered points. Bivins' 3-pointer gave the Pacers a 48-27 advantage. 

Trailing by 16 with eight minutes remaining, the Mighty Macs went on an 11-0 run over a 3:23 span to cut their deficit to five. Chambers made a tradition three-point play to put the Mighty Macs behind just 67-62 with 4:37 left.

Duce Jackson tied the game at 70-70 with a layup with 56 seconds remaining. Immaculata turned the ball over with its first chance to take a lead, and Macciocco was fouled just before the final buzzer. 

Macciocco scored all six of Marywood's points scored in the last 8:30 of the game. 

Marywood hosts Saint Elizabeth University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
