BOX SCORE

Clarks Summit, PA - Playing away from their home field due to poor field conditions, Marywood University came out strong against PAC foe Misericordia University and made a first-half Marissa Ruda (Athens, PA) goal stand as the Pacers beat the Cougars 1-0 Tuesday afternoon in PAC women's soccer action.

The win marked the first against Misericordia University in Pacers' women's soccer history.  Marywood was previously 0-9 all-time against the Cougars.  The win also propelled Marywood ahead of Misericordia in the PAC standings with one game remaining for both teams.

Ruda took a through ball from Andrea Barker (Binghamton, NY) in the 18th minute at 35 yards out and dribbled past several Cougar defenders before slotting the ball to the lower left corner from just inside the 18-yard box for the games lone goal, which was unassisted.  Marywood withstood a furious Misericordia rally in the second half as Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY) was forced to make several diving saves.  Misericordia also hit the right post on one occasion off a header which went wide.  Coyle collected her third consecutive shut-out and has not allowed a goal in the last 365:17, stretching to the first-half of the Lycoming game.

Marywood (10-3-2, 6-1-2 PAC) now has sole possession of third place with 20 points while Misericordia (10-6-1, 6-3 PAC) has 18 points and sole possession of fourth in the playoff hunt.  Centenary College, by virtue of a 1-0 overtime win over Neumann, remains in second place with 21 points (7-1 PAC).

The Pacers and Cyclones meet next Wednesday in Scranton.  Marywood will tune up for the PAC game against Centenary College with a non-conference tilt against King's College Monday at 3:30 pm in Wilkes-Barre.
