Scranton, PA – Caitlin Hadzimichalis scored the lone goal in a stroke off as host Marywood topped visiting Immaculata University 1-0 in PAC field hockey action Monday afternoon in Scranton. With the win, the Pacers close their 2007 campaign at 6-11 (4-6 PAC). Immaculata ends their season at 3-14 (3-7 PAC).
After a back and forth game that saw Marywood out-shoot the visitors 47-35 but unable to find the back of the net, it was not until the third stroke before any team found the back of the net. After two misses by the Pacers and two more by the Mighty Macs, junior captain Caitlin Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) finally found the back of the net. From there, Immaculata could not convert on their final three strokes as Marywood net-minder Stephanie Ziemski (Lake Hiawatha, NJ) was up to the task each time to preserve the win.
In all, Ziemski made 23 saves on the day to collect her fifth shut-out of the season. Immaculata goaltender Bridget Dougherty was equally impressive in goal, recording 27 saves for her fourth shut-out of the year.
