BOX SCORE

Wilkes-Barre, PA - Visiting Marywood University scored one goal in each half and held off a late King's College attempt to rally as the Pacers posted a 2-1 victory in  a non-conference women's soccer match Monday at Betzler Fields.  With the win, Marywood improved to 11-3-2 while King's slipped to 3-13-1.

Marywood would take a 1-0 half-time lead when a lead pass by Erin Kropa (Clarks Summit, PA) split through a pair of King's defenders onto the foot of Marissa Ruda (Athens, PA) who would convert the first goal of the game for the Pacers with 22:55 left in the opening stanza.

In the second half Lisa Hanselman (Manheim, PA) would score the eventual game-winner on a one-time chip shot off a crossing pass from Andrea Barker (Binghamton, NY) with 27:56 remaining in the contest.  King's would get on the board with 13:25 left when Sara Coletta drilled a high shot at Pacer goalie Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY). The ball rebounded off Coyle's hands and barely crossed the goal line before the Pacer goalie could retrieve the carom as the Lady Monarchs cut the lead to 2-1.  The goal was the first allowed by the Pacers and Coyle in the last 531:52 worth of play, a period that stretched over six games.

The Marywood defense, though, would hold tough and kept the Lady Monarchs off the board the rest of the contest.  Marywood out-shot King's 15-4 and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.  King's goalie Rachael Donatiello made 10 saves in net while Coyle totaled two stops.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they host Centenary College in their final PAC regular season game at 3:00 pm.  The game will be played on Marywood's campus, but will be played on the outfield of the baseball field behind the McGowan Building.
