Rosemont, PA – Marywood University junior middle hitter Natasha Freethy (Honesdale, PA) had a match-high 18 kills as the visiting Pacers topped host Rosemont College 3-0 in PAC volleyball action Thursday evening. The win moves the Pacers to 7-16 (3-7 PAC) while the Ramblers fell to 3-15 (0-10 PAC).
In game 1, the Ramblers traded points back and forth until the Pacers pulled away the end to win the game 30-18. The Pacers blitzed the Ramblers in the second 30-7. In game 3, the Ramblers were able to break ahead having a lead of 11-4, but the Pacers kept digging at the lead and eventually took the game 30-28.
As a team, the Pacers were strong notching 46 kills and 15 service aces. Freethy led with 18 kills while Katie Coyne (Stony Point, NY) tallied all the assists on the night with 33. Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA) and Taryn Borden (Bridgewater, NJ) each added 10 kills for Marywood.
For Rosemont, sophomore Karen Boyle led the team in kills with 4. Sophomore Christa Bednarek helped Boyle out by notching 9 assists on the night as well as leading the team with 12 digs. Seniors Blair Armstrong and Andrea Boyle were close behind with 10 digs each.
Marywood will close out their 2007 season Saturday with a trip to Cabrini College for a 1:00 pm PAC match.
