Scranton, PA – Marywood University improved to 3-0 on the year after holding off Wilkes University 67-65 in non-conference women's basketball action Tuesday evening at Marywood's Insalaco Arena. The loss dropped the Colonels to 0-3 on the young season.
Marywood used a 16-1 run over the final 4:53 of the first half to erase a 29-17 deficit and go into the locker room with a 33-30 halftime lead. The Pacers were led by freshman Stephanie Fusaro's 10 first-half points and forced 16 Wilkes turnovers in the opening stanza. Chelsey Gosse (Allentown, PA) led the Colonels in the first-half with 12 points.
Fusaro (Bala Cynwyd, PA) finished the game with 15 points, but Caitlin Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) scored a game-high 17 points to lead Marywood. Two other Pacers, Bryanne Unger (Tower City, PA) and Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA) reached the double-digit mark with 12-points apiece.
Wilkes had three players in double-figures as Katie Cappelloni (Scranton, PA) led the Colonels with 16 points. Chelsey Gosse (Allentown, PA) added 15 points while Nicole Quick (Avoca, PA) had 13.
Marywood returns to action Tuesday November 27 at 7:00 pm when they travel to LaPlume to face Keystone College.
