Scranton, PA – Marywood University limited Immaculata University to just five second half field goals and the Mighty Macs went without a field goal for over nine minutes each half as the host Pacers knocked off Immaculata University 70-39 in PAC women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The win keeps the Pacers unbeaten at 5-0 (1-0 PAC) while Immaculata slips to 2-3 (0-2 PAC).
Marywood took an early 8-2 lead to start the game after Immaculata went 0-9 from the field over the first 9:42 of the contest. The Mighty Macs lone points during that period came from the charity stripe. The Pacers would eventually build a 13-point lead (28-15) but Immaculata responded with four three-pointers to cut the Pacer lead.
Amanda Lass (Brackney, PA) nearly had a double-double before intermission, collecting 12 points and nine boards as the Pacers built a 32-24 lead at the break. Shannon Kueny (Sellersville, PA) came off the bench to lead Immaculata in scoring in the first half with nine points. Immaculata's bench outscored their starters in the opening period, 13-11.
The second half proved no different as Marywood opened play with a 19-0 run over the first 9:45 of the second half en route to their fifth consecutive win. Lass quickly picked up her double-double, grabbing her 10th rebound just 42-seconds into the second half. She would finish with a game-high 14 boards and added 14 points. Teammate Stephanie Fusaro (Bala Cynwyd, PA) led all scorers with 15 points, while Caitlin Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) added 13 and Maggie Farrell (Telford, PA) added 10.
Kueny led the Mighty Macs with 14 points, while Jessica Gaburo (Pittsgrove, NJ) had eight rebounds for the Mighty Macs.
The Pacers return to the court Monday evening when they travel to Allentown to face Cedar Crest College at 7:00 pm.
