Allentown, PA – Marywood University continued their best start in program history by moving to 6-0 on the year with a 75-53 win over host Cedar Crest College in PAC Women's Basketball action Monday evening in Allentown.
The contest proved to be a battle of defense on both ends of the court over the early going with Marywood (6-0, 2-0 PAC) holding just a 6-3 advantage at the 13:50 mark in the first half. The Pacers then went on a 20-10 run over the next six minutes of the half to go ahead, 26-10, with 7:34 remaining.
The Falcons cut the lead to seven with 1:49 remaining in the first half on a lay-up by freshman Lauren Seale, who finished with seven points on the night. Marywood's Maggie Farrell (Telford, PA), who came off the bench to score 14 points, gave the Pacers a 39-28 advantage with a made lay-up just before halftime.
The Pacers went up by as much as 21 just 3:58 into the second half, before Cedar Crest scored eight unanswered points to cut the lead to 13 at the 12:59 mark on a lay-up by freshman Leann Wallower, who posted 12 points and six rebounds in the contest.
The Falcons would once again cut the lead to 13 at the 9:10 mark in the second half on a rebound and put-back by sophomore Kelly Oakes. Farrell nailed four jumpers over the next five minutes stretch the Pacers lead and end any hopes of a Falcon comeback.
Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA) and Amanda Lass (Brackney, PA) also notched 14 points to lead the Pacers, while Caity Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) added 11 points on the night while Bryanne Unger (Tower City, PA) contributed 10 points.
Oakes led the Falcons with game-highs of 15 points and 14 rebounds, while freshman Keri Lasky added 12 points and six assists.
Marywood will take a break from PAC action and wrap up the fall semester with a non-conference tilt at Delaware Valley College Thursday at 7:00 pm.
