BOX SCORE

Scranton, PA – Jen Lozier scored with just 3:29 left in the second half off a Jill Bavitz assist to lift visiting Misericordia University to a 2-1 win over Marywood in PAC field hockey action.  The Pacers fall to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while the Cougars up their record to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the PAC.

Play in the first half was even with each team's goalie coming up with several big saves.  Marywood's Stephanie Ziemski (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) denied a point blank chance by Misericordia's Camilla Hansen, but Hansen set up Laura Leighow moments later for the game's first goal 15 minutes into the contest.  The Pacers would answer just over five minutes later when Carrie Glenn (Rifton, NJ/Kingston) found a streaking Caity Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ/Belvidere) who craftily scored past Cougar's goalie Ellen Howanitz.

In the second half, the Cougars began to apply more pressure, but Ziemski and the Pacers defense held the score even.  With overtime looming, Bavitz's pass put Lozier behind Marywood's defense and the freshman found the back of the cage with what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Misericordia out-shot the Pacers 12-7 while Marywood held a 10-5 edge in penalty corners.  Ziemski finished the afternoon with 10 saves while her counterpart Howanitz made 6 stops to get the win.

The Pacers return to action on Saturday when they host the College of Notre Dame in another PAC match-up.
