BOX SCORE

Wilkes-Barre, PA - Freshman Dan Mortenson recorded three goals and junior Cameron Audette added one goal and two assists to lead the King's College men's soccer team with a 5-0 victory over visiting Marywood University Wednesday at Betzler Fields.

With its first victory of the year, King's improved to 1-4 on the year while Marywood slipped to 1-4.

The Monarchs would take a 1-0 with 34:55 remaining in the first half when Mortenson scored off a header following a crossing pass by Grant Parsons.  King's would add its second goal when Audette made good on a penalty kick with 17:53 left in the opening stanza.

King's would stretch the lead to 3-0 when Mortenson scored off a pair of touch passes in the box from Audette and Mark Timko with 14:48 remaining in the contest.  The Monarchs scored their next goal on a bizarre play when Pacer goalie Danny Reynolds came far out of the net to challenge a free ball. King's Grant Parsons attempted a shot which caromed off of Reynolds high into the air and back towards the Marywood goal. King's freshman Andrew Ciemieki would direct the ball into the Pacer goal for a 4-0 Monarch lead with 12:15 remaining. King's would register its final goal when Mortenson converted a cross from Audette with 9:30 on the clock.

King's held an 11-10 lead in shots while also owning an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Monarch goalie John McNichol made six saves while Reynolds stopped five shots for the Pacers.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when the host Pacers will face Polytechnic University in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
