Scranton, PA – Eastern University won their PAC opener with a 3-0 win over host Marywood University Wednesday evening at Marywood's Insalaco Arena. Eastern improved to 3-6 overall with the win, while the Pacers slipped to 3-4 (0-2 PAC).
Eastern cruised through the first two games by scores of 30-11 and 30-15, but had trouble putting the Pacers away to complete the sweep. Marywood battled Eastern in the final game but could not stop the Eagle offense as Eastern won 30-27.
Eastern's Emma Klein had 12 kills on the night while Mandy Platt and Katie Ressler each had 8. Brittany Cunliffe led the Eagles attack with 30 assists, while Carrie Gillen registered 10 digs. Marywood's Lizzy Green had 5 kills to lead the Pacers, while Rionna Corr had 10 assists.
Marywood returns to action Saturday when they host the Marywood Quad-Match with Lycoming, Susquehanna and Baptist Bible starting at 10:00 am.
