Immaculata, PA – Marywood University evened their PAC record to 1-1 and their overall record to 2-2 after escaping Immaculata University with a 5-4 win Wednesday afternoon in PAC women's tennis action.
Marywood opened play by sweeping doubles action, which proved to be the decisive three points as Immaculata responded by winning four of six singles matches. In doubles play, Ryann Null (Cogan Station, PA/Williamsport) and Samantha Miller (Ashley, PA/Hanover Area) improved to 2-0 (1-0 PAC) at #1 doubles with an 8-0 win over Megan Essick and Kristen East.
Jodi Balch (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) and Bethanie LeCureux (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East) registered an 8-2 win at #2 doubles, while Marywood's Mary Rita DeNucci (Havertown, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) and Michaela Herr (Boalsburg, PA/State College Area) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win over Amanda Wilson and Erica LaMarch.
Essick and East rebounded for Immaculata with wins at #1 and 2 singles play over Null and Miller, respectively, while Marywood's Balch and Herr were victorious at 3 and 4 to get the Pacers to five points and the win.
Marywood returns to action Saturday when they host the defending PAC Champions, Cabrini College, at 1:00 pm.
