Scranton, PA - Susquehanna University needed five games against Baptist Bible but the Crusaders pulled out the fifth game 15-9 as the Susquehanna completed Saturday's Marywood University Quad-Match with a perfect 3-0 record.
The Crusaders had easier times against Lycoming and Marywood, winning both of those matches in three games. Susquehanna defeated Marywood 30-20, 30-12 and 30-21 and beat Lycoming 30-21, 30-16, 31-29, but found themselves in an epic battle with the Lady Defenders from Baptist Bible. Susquehanna would win the first game 30-25 but Baptist Bible bounced back with a 30-27 win in the second game. The Crusaders went up 2-1 with a 30-20 win in game three, but fell by four (26-30) to the Defenders to force a decisive game five. Susquehanna would eventually come out on top, 15-9.
The Defenders also defeated Marywood and Lycoming, topping the Pacers 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-22) and the Warriors 3-0 (30-27, 30-22, 30-17). Lycoming fell to Susquehanna and Baptist Bible but topped Marywood 3-1 (30-21, 30-28, 29-31, 30-22).
Marywood returns to action next Saturday when they participate in the Cedar Crest College Tri-Match.
