Scranton, PA - Cabrini College improved to 4-2 (3-0 PAC) on the year after sweeping doubles play and winning five of six singles matches as the Cavaliers picked up an 8-1 PAC win over host Marywood University Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The loss drops the Pacers to 2-3 (1-2 PAC) on the year.
Cabrini started the day off strong in doubles play as Dina DiTaranto and Carolyn Wilson teamed up for an 8-2 win at #1 doubles. Megan Simmons and Christine Telling followed with a tough 9-7 win at #2, and Stephanie Tighe and Nicole Pontious made quick work of their opponents at #3 doubles with an 8-0 win.
The Cavaliers carried that momentum into singles play, as DiTaranto, Wilson, Simmons and Tighe all son by 6-0, 6-1 scores at 1, 2, 3 and 5 singles, respectively. Pontious won 6-0, 6-0 at #4 singles, while Marywood's Jodi Balch (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) won 6-1, 6-0 at #6 singles.
Marywood returns to action Sunday with a non-conference match at Mt. St. Mary College in Newburgh, NY at 1:00 pm.
