Scranton, PA – Gwynedd-Mercy got a second half goal from Aubrey Wolf to lift the visiting Griffins to a victory over Marywood in a PAC contest on Saturday. With the win, Gwynedd-Mercy moves its record to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference while the Pacers slip to 2-4 and 1-3 in the PAC.
The two teams played an even first half, with Marywood holding a slim 5-4 edge in shots and the Griffins having a 4-3 advantage in penalty corners. However, Pacers' goalie Stephanie Ziemski (Lake Hiawatha, NJ) and Griffins' net minder Aubrey McDevitt kept the game scoreless going into halftime.
Gwynedd-Mercy began to take control in the second half and would score the game's only goal 10:21 into the period. Aubrey Wolf took a feed from Ashley Blackwell and found the back of the cage for the 1-0 lead. The Pacers pushed for the equalizer, earning 8 penalty corners in the half, but were unable to tie the game.
The Griffins held a 16-7 shot advantage for the day, while the Pacers had an 11-10 edge in penalty corners. McDevitt made seven saves to record the shutout victory while Ziemski made 15 stops for Marywood.
The Pacers are back in action tomorrow when the host Washington College in a non-conference game.
