Cabrini Gets First Win, Tops Marywood 5-0

Radnor, PA – Cabrini College scored five goals in the first half as the host Cavaliers picked up their first win in 2007 with a 5-0 PAC field hockey win over visiting Marywood Thursday afternoon in Radnor.  Cabrini improves to 1-8, 1-3 PAC with the win while the Pacers slipped to 2-6 (1-4 PAC).

Cabrini's Bridget Bergen scored just 3:01 into the contest to give the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead.  Desiree Umosella scored her first of two on the day just 22 seconds later, and Allie Wood made it 3-0 13 minutes in off an assist from Melissa Benedetti.

Umosella then tallied her second of the game at the 19:59 mark, and Benedetti tallied her own goal on a penalty stroke with less than five minutes left in the first half for the final score of the day.

Stephanie Ziemski made three saves in goal for Marywood, while Caitlin Donahue and Elissa Salantri each made one as the Cavaliers earned the shut-out.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when the Pacers host Albright College at 1:00 pm.
