Albright Prevails on Penalty Strokes, 3-0

Scranton, PA - Host Marywood University and Albright College battled through 90 minutes of action including two overtimes but the visiting Lions escaped with the win after blasting home three penalty strokes after the extra periods Saturday afternoon in Scranton.

Albright, who improved to 6-4 with the win, held a 17-10 advantage in shots in the game but could not sneak one by Marywood goalkeeper Stephanie Ziemski (Lake Hiawatha, NJ) until penalty strokes. Jordan Toroniewski (Warminster, PA), Briana Taylor (Tobyhanna, PA) and Kelly Zepp (Hanover, PA) all converted penalty strokes as the Lions won 3-0. Albright also held a 20-11 advantage in penalty corners.

Lion goalkeeper Rachel Hager (Bloomsburg, PA) finished the day with 10 saves, including three in overtime, to collect the shut-out. Ziemski finished with 17 saves for the Pacers, who fell to 2-7 with the loss. Marywood returns to action Monday with a trip to Madison, NJ to face FDU-Florham in non-conference action at 4:00 pm.
