Scranton, PA – Marywood University scored two goals in the first 19 minutes of play and then held off Neumann College for the last few minutes as the host Pacers improved to 8-2 on the year with a 2-1 PAC win over the Knights in women's soccer action Saturday afternoon in Scranton.
Marywood opened the scoring at the 15:06 mark when Meghan Brown (Oakridge, NJ) scored off a Claudia Mazza (Binghamton, NY) assist to go up 1-0. Marissa Ruda (Athens, PA) scored the eventual game-winner for the Pacers (4-1 PAC) just under four minutes later in the 20th minute of play when she finished a Kristin Powers (Landenberg, PA) cross.
Neumann rallied in the 89th minute when Brittany Barley (Lancaster, PA) scored unassisted to make it 2-1. Caitlin Agnew (Philadelphia, PA) made five saves in goal for the Knights, who fell to 3-8-1 (2-1-1 PAC). Marywood's Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY) made three saves on the day.
Marywood returns to action Sunday when they travel to Williamsport for a non-conference game against Lycoming at 1:00 pm.
