Cazenovia, NY - The Cazenovia College Wildcats volleyball team, playing its second game in two days and opening its season at home, lost 3-1 to the visiting Marywood University Pacers on Thursday evening in Cazenovia.  The loss knocks Cazenovia to 1-5 on the season.  Marywood, with the win, improves to 3-2 in 2007.

Marywood jumped out to a game-one lead thanks to Natasha Freethy (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale).  Freethy finished game one with four kills three digs and an ace.  Freethy finished the match with twelve kills and six errors on 28 attempts.

Cazenovia knotted the match, 1-1, with a 34-32 game-two win.  Cazenovia's Ashley Kelley (Factoryville, PA/ Lackawanna Trail) played her best game of the year and finished with four game-two kills and six digs.

Marywood took game three and game four, with relative ease, thanks to the setting of Riona Corr (Somersworth, NJ/St. Thomas Aquinas).  Corr, who finished the match with 45 assists, had nine consecutive game-four sets for points.

Cazenovia's Heather Nerapass (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) finished with a team-high thirteen kills.  Nerapass also finished with 16 digs on the evening.

Kelley continued to assault the Cazenovia record books by digging at an astounding pace in the match.  Kelley, who finished with a team-high 19 digs, is now third on the Cazenovia all-time career dig list and first in the category of digs-per-game (3.92).

The Wildcats are now 0-3 against Marywood, all-time.  Marywood returns to action next Monday when they open PAC play at Misericordia University at 7:00 pm.
