BOX SCORE

Clarks Summit, PA – Marywood University improved to 10-4 on the year with a  63-40 non-conference win over host Baptist Bible College Thursday evening in women's basketball action.  The host Defenders fell to 10-4 with the loss.  Marywood's Bryanne Unger (Tower City, PA) led a trio of Pacers in double-figures with a 14-point effort.

Marywood broke open a tight game early thanks in part to a 14-2 run over a four-minute stretch just over five minutes into the game.  That run gave the Pacers a 20-6 lead, one they would not relinquish the rest of the way. Unger had 11 first-half points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc.  Marywood went into the break with a 20-point lead, 36-16, after closing the first half on an 8-0 run.

After a free throw by Baptist Bible's Naomi Sweeney cut the Marywood lead to 19 to open the second half, Marywood continued control of the game with pressure defense, garnering 9 steals on the night and forcing the Defenders to 19 turnovers, 10 of which came in the second half.  Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA) had 12 points on the night, while Amanda Lass (Brackney, PA) came up one-rebound shy of another double-double.  Lass finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds.

Liz Bole led the Defenders with 14 points, tied for a game-high with Unger.  Marywood limited the Defenders to just 26.9% shooting from the floor in the game after Baptist Bible was able to connect on only 14 of 52 attempts from the floor.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when they travel to face Rosemont College in PAC action at 1:00 pm.
