Pacers Misery Continues as Marywood Falls to Cougars

Dallas, PA - Despite 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for freshman Matthew Medici Marywood remained winless in PAC action as the Pacers fell to host Misericordia University 62-52 in men's basketball action Monday evening in Dallas.  The win snaps Misericordia's three-game skid and moves the Cougars to 11-6 (5-3 PAC) while the Pacers go to 6-10 (0-8 PAC).

Medici (Princeton Junction, NJ) tied with Misericordia's Dom Del Prete with a game-high 16 points had a game-high 11 rebounds.  Del Prete was 3-for-3 from 2-point land and dropped 10 of 11 free throw attempts to lead the Cougars.  Matt Hornak added 14 for the Cougars, while Marywood's Josh Pena (New York City, NY) added 14 as well.

The big difference in the night came off the bench, as the Cougars reserves outscored Marywood's 23-4.  Misericordia hit just over 41% of their shots on the night while limiting the Pacers to 33.9% shooting from the floor (15 of 33).

Marywood took a three-point lead into intermission up 22-19, but Misericordia turned in a big second half effort with 43 points for the come-from-behind win.  Trailing 27-21 early in the second half, Hornak scored seven straight points to put the Cougars up 28-27.  After Pena answered to give Marywood a 31-30 lead moments later, Misericordia used a 5-0 run to regain the lead for good.

Marywood returns to action Thursday when they host Alvernia College at 8:00 pm in the Insalaco Arena.
