Scranton, PA - Gwynedd-Mercy College clinched the top seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Team Championships with a 9-0 win over host Marywood University Tuesdsay afternoon in CSAC women's tennis action. The Griffins, who improved to a perfect 9-0 in conference play, easily handled the Pacers en route to their twelfth win of the season. Marywood, who slipped to 7-2 in CSAC action and 8-4 overall, can clinch either the three or four seed with a win over Baptist Bible Wednesday.

The Griffins made quick work of doubles play as Alana Rumpel and Chelsea Donde topped Marywood's one-doubles team of Ryann Null (Williamsport, PA) and Jodi Balch (Matamoras, PA), 8-3. The Griffins then won two-doubles 8-4 and three-doubles 8-5 to go up 3-0.

Phillips defeated Null 6-1, 6-3 at one-singles and Rumpel defeated Ashley Karli (Blandon, PA) 6-4, 6-4 to get the five points necessary for the win. The tightest set of the day came at four-singles where Donde defeated Beth Schneider (Port Jervis, NY), 7-5, 6-3.

With a win over Baptist Bible Wednesday, Marywood would clinch the three-seed in this weekends CSAC team championships. A Defender upset would mean Marywood would have to wait on the Neumann College result to determine if the Pacers were the three or four seed.
