Baltimore, MD - Marywood University improved to 5-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action as the visiting Pacers downed the College of Notre Dame 5-0 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon in Baltimore. The Pacers improved to 8-6 overall while the Gators fell to 1-10 (0-6 CSAC).

Junior forward Shannon Hubbard (Oxford, NY) and freshman Nicole Siddall (Goshen, CT) each scored two goals to lead the Pacers to the victory. Meanwhile, freshman Jess Caccese (Malvern, PA) made two saves in her first start of the season to notch the shut-out.

The Pacers took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when Hubbard scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Siddall. With 11:45 remaining in the half, Siddall upped the Pacer lead to 2-0 with her third goal of the season, an unassisted marker past junior goalkeeper Jessica Maier. Siddall scored less than six minutes later with an unassisted tally, giving Marywood a 3-0 cushion at the intermission.

The Pacers added to their lead with two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half. Hubbard scored her second goal of the game with 25:35 remaining off an assist from freshman forward Dana Sweeney (Sussex, NJ) before Sweeney added her second goal of the season off an assist from freshman forward Mary Potorski (Bear Creek, PA).

From there, the Marywood defense held off several opportunities from the Gators to record the shutout.

Maier made eight saves in a losing effort for the Gators, who were out-shot by a 22-8 margin. The Pacers also had a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners.
