Hackettstown, NJ – Visiting Marywood University gained momentum by winning a long first game and went on to score a three games to one victory over Centenary College in Colonial States Athletic Conference on Thursday evening. The Pacers, who notched their second-straight conference victory, improved to 5-10 on the season and 3-2 in CSAC play while the Cyclones see their record slide to 8-14 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Marywood claimed an important 34-32 decision in the match's long opening game before scoring a 25-20 win in the second game to take a 2-0 lead. Centenary responded with a 25-17 win in the third game before the Pacers secured the win by taking the fourth game 25-20.
Taryn Borden (Bridgewater, NJ) led Marywood with 12 kills and was one of four Pacers to record double-digits in digs with 11. Rionna Corr (Somersworth, NH) had 17 assists and 14 digs while Lauren Bianchetti (Highland Mills) added 12 assists.
Natasha Freethy (Honesdale, PA) recorded a match-high seven service aces.
Centenary was led by match-highs from Victoria Rice (14 kills) and Kelsey Walter (27 digs).
Marywood will return to action next Monday night when they travel to Newburgh, NY for a non-conference match-up with Mt. St. Mary College scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
