BOX SCORE

Scranton, PA – Anthony Kapp scored a goal early in the first half and Marywood University's defense made it stand as the Pacers picked up a 1-0 win over local rival Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, Marywood, now 11-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play, inched closer to securing the first conference playoff berth in the program's history.

The Pacers struck just 4:09 into the game as Alex Dawson (Binghamton, NY) sent a cross from the baseline that Anthony Kapp (Duncannon, PA) one-timed into the side netting to give the Pacers the early lead.

Kapp's goal was his sixth tally of the season, tying him for the team-lead with fellow freshman Brett Megee (Easton, PA) and would turn out to be his team-best third game-winning goal.

Megee nearly extended Marywood's lead to two later in the half, but his right-footed shot clanked off the crossbar. The Pacers out-shot the Giants 17-2 in the opening half, but could not get anymore past Keystone goalkeeper Ryan Wagner.

The second-half was more evenly played with the Pacers holding a narrow 6-5 edge in shots, but neither team could find the back of the net. The crossbar again bailed out the Giants as Chris Rodzewich's (Schwenksville, PA) shot found the woodwork midway through the second stanza.

Jamie Ellis led Keystone, now 3-10-1 overall and 1-4 in the conference, with three shots including two on goal while teammate Scott Bensinger put two shots on target for the visitors.

Jared El-Gayeh (Baldwin, NY) made six saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season and Marywood's fifth overall. Wagner was solid in the Giants' net, stopping 10 shots from the Pacers.

Marywood will close out their regular season this Saturday with a CSAC game under the lights at Cabrini College. Kickoff in Radnor  is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
