Scranton, PA - Needing a big win to stay alive in the hunt for post-season play, Marywood University got exactly what they needed as they celebrated senior night with a 3-0 win over visiting Immaculata University in CSAC volleyball action Tuesday night in Scranton. With the win, Marywood kept their post-season hopes alive and improved to 5-4 in CSAC play (10-12 overall) while the Mighty Macs slipped to 11-10 (6-3 CSAC).

The Pacers saved what was perhaps their strongest performance of the year for when they needed it most. Needing a win to keep pace with Baptist Bible College for the last of six playoff spots, Marywood won their fourth straight match by downing Immaculata 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23. The Pacers were led by Riona Corr's 29 assists on the night. Corr (Somersworth, NH) also chipped in seven digs in the win, as did Lizzy Green (Shenandoah, PA), Carly Catalano (Colts Neck, NJ) and Natasha Freethy (Honesdale, PA). Taryn Borden (Bridgewater, NJ) had a team-high eight digs and had six kills.

The Mighty Macs were led by Courtney Sahm who had 12 digs and three kills. Kathleen Haefner had 15 assists on the night.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when they face Philadelphia Biblical and Susquehanna University in a tri-match at 11:00 am. The Marywood-PBU match will take place first and will help determine the Pacers' post-season fate. With a win over the Crimson Eagles, Marywood can clinch a playoff berth. With a loss, however, Marywood would have to wait on Baptist Bible results to learn if they have clinched a berth.
