Pacers Fall at Misericordia in Regular Season Finale

Dallas, PA - Misericordia University extended a 1-0 halftime lead with an early second half goal and added an insurance goal with less than 10 minutes remaining as the host Cougars topped visiting Marywood 3-0 in non-conference field hockey action Wednesday afternoon in Scranton.  The win moved the  Cougars to 13-5 on the year while Marywood closes out the regular season with a 9-8 mark.

Misericordia's Heather DiMenno broke a 0-0 deadlock just over 14-minutes into the game when she finished Kelsey DeBruyne cross for the eventual game-winner.  Up 1-0 at the half, the Cougars quickly put the game out of reach by scoring just 41-seconds into the second half on a goal by Laura Leighow.  Leighow's goal was assisted by Ashlee Leonard.  Leighlow then set up Haley Ellis for the games third and final goal at the 60:45 mark.

Marywood's Jennifer Miller (Hawley, PA) made twelve saves in 70 minutes of action.  Misericordia's Megan Lafaw, playing in her first game as a goalkeeper, made four saves to preserve the shut-out.

Marywood will host Gwynedd-Mercy College Saturday at 2:00 pm in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey tournament.  The Pacers are the #4 seed for the post-season tournament while the Griffins are the fifth seed.  Marywood topped Gwynedd-Mercy 3-2 in regular season action.
