BOX SCORE

Scranton, PA – Visiting Neumann College scored two second-half goals and held on to earn a 2-0 win over Marywood University on Saturday afternoon, snapping the Pacers' five-game winning streak and giving the team their first loss in Colonial States Athletic Conference play. Marywood is now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference while the Knights improved to 3-6-2 and 1-0 in CSAC action.

Neither team was able to find the net in the opening half in which Neumann held a 6-3 advantage in shots and 5-0 edge in corner kicks. Marywood goalkeeper Jared El Gayeh (Baldwin, NY) made two first-half saves to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.

The Knights would break through in the 55th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick after a foul was called on the Pacers inside their own box. Jesse Urquhart stepped up to the spot and drilled a low shot past El-Gayeh's right side to give the visitors the 1-0 lead.

After giving up the goal, Marywood pressured Neumann's defense looking for the equalizer, but Knights' goalkeeper Robert Mastrillo was strong, collecting several dangerous crosses that were headed for Marywood's forwards.

With the Pacers pressing, Neumann got an odd-man break in the 82nd minute and Urquhart slid a ball across the top of the box to Chuck Rudolph who found the back of the net to give Neumann the 2-0 lead.

The Knights out-shot Marywood 12-7 and also had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

El-Gayeh finished with four saves while Mastrillo recorded three stops to pick up the win.

Marywood will return to action on Wednesday when the travel to Doylestown, PA for a non-conference game against Delaware Valley College.
