Scranton, PA - For the second straight game Marywood pounded the opposing team's keeper in the first half but could not find the back of the net, but for the second straight game the Pacers managed to use a strong second half performance as Marywood University toppled the College of Notre Dame 6-0 in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon in Scranton. The win keeps the Pacers unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play at 4-0 (7-4-1 overall) while the Gators fall to 3-7 (2-3 CSAC).

Marywood opened with a strong offensive performance in the first half, outshooting the visitors 18-0, but could not find the back of the net after Notre Dame keeper Ashleigh Johnson came up with eight saves in the opening stanza. The Pacers got on the board just 1:50 into the second half as freshman Tayler Simmons (Hopewell Junction, NY) netted her third goal of the season with a rocket from eight yards out. Just over three minutes later, junior Erin Kropa (Clarks Summit, PA) scored on a one-time shot off a corner kick from Stephanie Hoffman (Binghamton, NY). Hoffman would go on to add two more assists on corner kicks on goals by Claudia Mazza (Binghamton, NY) and Lisa Hanselman (Manheim, PA) in the 86th and 87th minutes, respectively.

Sandwiched in-between were two goals from Meghan Brown (Oakridge, NJ) on an assist from Jennifer Slesinski (Middletown, NY) and Caitlin Light (Annville, PA) who netted her first collegiate goal in the 79th minute off an assist from Brown.

Marywood's Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY) made one save late in the second half to preserve her fifth straight shut-out, four of which have come against CSAC opponents. Johnson finished the day with a game-high 14 saves for the Gators.

Marywood returns to action Tuesday when the Pacers face-off against new CSAC foe Baptist Bible College in a matchup of two of the teams on top of league standings. Kickoff in Clarks Summit is set for 4:00 pm.
