Allentown, PA - Caitlin Hadzimichalis had two goals and Marywood got scoring from three other players as the visiting Pacers topped host Cedar Crest College 5-1 in CSAC field hockey action Wednesday afternoonin Allentown. The win puts the Pacers above .500 at 6-5 (3-1 CSAC) while the Falcons slipped to 2-10 (1-4 CSAC).
Marywood would put the game away early as the Pacers built a 3-0 lead before the Falcons could mount any offense. Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ) opened the scoring for Marywood just 3:39 into the contest as the senior netted her third goal of the season. Mary Potorski (Bear Creek, PA) quickly made it 2-0 just over two minutes later with her team-leading fifth tally of the year. Not to be out-done, Emily Wentzel (East Earl,PA) scored her fourth of the year at the 20:17 mark on an assist from Shannon Hubbard (Oxford, NY).
Cedar Crest answered by making the most of their one shot in the game as Heather Gallagher made it 3-1 with 14:29 left in the opening period on a Jenn Derky assist. Marywood put the game out of reach midway through the second as Hadzimichalis scored with 19:10 remaining in the game and Julie Dougherty (Wading River, NY) scored her first collegiate goal with 16:19 left to close out the scoring.
Jennifer Miller (Hawley, PA) picked up the win in goal for the Pacers without making a save. Rachel Orlen made 17 saves for the Falcons while Falynn Strohl made one stop.
Marywood returns to action Saturday when the Pacers visit Immaculata University for an 11:00am CSAC match-up.
