Scranton, PA - Caitlin Hadzimichalis scored just :57 into the first overtime to give host Marywood University a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College in Saturday's Colonial States Athletic Conference first-round game.  Marywood improves to 10-8 on the year and will travel to face top-seeded Cabrini College in Wednesday's semifinal contest.  The Griffins conclude their year with a 7-12 mark.

Marywood opened the scoring just 52-seconds into the game as freshman All-Conference forward Mary Potorski (Bear Creek, PA) netted her then team-leading tenth goal of the year off a rebound.  The Pacers held that lead for the next twelve minutes but the Griffins responded at the 21:54 mark on a goal by Kayla Farrow.  Farrow took a Dottie O'Neil cross and stick-handled the ball around Marywood net-minder Jessica Miller (Hawley, PA) for the equalizer.

Marywood looked to take a 2-1 lead mid-way through the second half but an apparent goal got called back after it was determined the shot came from just outside the arc.  The Griffins then missed a golden opportunity with less than a minute remaining after not capitalizing on two final-minute penalty corners.

Hadzimichalis' heroics came off a Maggie Brittain (Clarks Summit, PA) penalty corner as both teams started overtime with seven players on the field.  Brittain's in-bounds pass found the stick of Emily Wentzel (East Earl, PA) who slid the ball across to Hadzimichalis.   Hadzimichalis then ripped a one-time shot from just inside the arc to the far post for her tenth tally of the year.

Miller made five saves in goal for the Pacers while Gwynedd-Mercy's Trisha Timony also made five stops.  Marywood advances to Wednesday's CSAC semifinal match and will face top-seeded Cabrini College in Radnor.  The Cavaliers out-lasted Marywood 2-1 during the regular season.
