Newburgh, NY - Sidney Tharpe registered his first double-double in a Marywood uniform and senior Prince Blacknall led all scorers with a game-high 21 points as Marywood evened their record at 1-1 on the  year with an 82-70 win over Berkeley College Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Frank Lospitalier Classic (hosted by Mt. St. Mary College) in Newburgh, New York.

The Pacers hit 17 of 38 shots in the opening half as they build a nine-point edge at the break, going into the lockerroom with a 41-32 lead.  Tharpe (Victorville, CA) was named to the All-Tournament team after a 19-point, 12-rebound performance.  Blacknall (Stroudsburg, PA) once again led Marywood scorers, this time with a game-high 21 points on 7 of 13 shooting from the floor. 

Marywood, who fell to Richard Stockton yesterday to open the season, also got double-digit performances from Matthew Medici (Princeton Junction, NJ) and Joshua Pena (New York City, NY).  Medici had 14 points on 6 of 12 shooting and grabbed six boards while Pena had 11 including two three-pointers.

Marywood (1-1) returns to action next Friday when the Pacers take on PSU-Hazleton in the opening game of the annual Laurel Line Tournament at Misericordia University.  Tip-off in Dallas is set for 6:00 pm.
