BOX SCORE

Dallas, PA – After trailing by two points at the end of the first half, Marywood's men basketball team responded by outscoring Penn State-Hazleton 42-24 in the second half to notch a 78-62 win over the Lions in the opening round of the Laurel Line Tournament hosted by Misericordia University. With the win, the Pacers, now 2-1 on the season, advance to Saturday's championship game where they will meet the host Cougars, who downed Baptist Bible College 71-56 in Friday's nightcap.

Penn State-Hazleton took a 38-36 lead into halftime after draining 55 percent of their attempts from the field compared to Marywood's 37 percent. The Lions were also four for six on three-point attempts while Marywood netted four of their eleven efforts from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

Marywood turned the tides in their favor in the second stanza, limiting the Lions to just 31 percent from the floor while connecting on 45 percent of their field goal attempts. The Pacers' bench outscored the Penn State-Hazleton's 45-22, led by Matthew Medici's (Princeton Junction, NJ) 19 points. Medici would also grab a game-high 12 rebounds to complete his double-double.

Sidney Tharpe (Victorville, CA) scored a game-high 25 points for the Pacers and also added nine rebounds, falling just one board short of a double-double.

The Lions placed three players in double figures, led by J.J. Reinmiller's 13 points. Mark Scarcella netted 12 points on four three-pointers while Brett Ednie contributed 11 points in a losing effort.

Marywood and Misericordia will tip-off at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening in Dallas.
